A Little Gas In The Tank EP is a 4 song extended-play album that clocks-in at 15 minutes. The album starts off with a two-stepping knee-slapper that is the title track of this album: A Little Gas In The Tank. Fun acoustic guitar riffs, a strong backbone beat, and the fact that this song was written, recorded by Greg Arcade the multi-instrumentalist himself and released with the album in just a few hours is groundbreaking alone.
The next song is titled Go Down Swinging. This song has captured the hearts and minds of people worldwide who refused to take any mRNA vaccines. It tells the story of real experiences that members of Greg Arcade’s audience have reached out to share with him.
The third song on the album is Rally On Me. This song tugs your heartstrings and relates to the listener Greg Arcade’s own experiences of being the subject of harassment and attacks, but also the perseverance of pushing through it and leaning on each-other when times get tough. If you are having tough times Greg Arcade tells you to rally on him and his music.
The fourth and final song on his album is Home Grown: the crowd favorite. This fun and cheeky country song shares Greg Arcade’s own aspirations in life, while also poking fun at current events and conspiracy in the lyrics.
This album was released a couple hours after Greg Arcade announced his first live concert in over 3 years. The concert sold out. The nature of the concert was to raise funds in support of political prisoners being held in Alberta Canada by the government and the corrupt federal police force. He put this album out to help raise trip costs and offset his impact on the bottom line of the event.
Music with an authentic message is a hot commodity these days, so why is it so rare to find it? When it comes to artists who have a backbone and stand for their beliefs, Canada comes up dry like a pine forest in June set ablaze by a government backed climate activist. That doesn’t mean that Canada is completely devoid of strong voices, they are just fewer and farther between. It also means that the voices that do possess this bravado are bigger and louder than most. There really aren’t many bigger, louder, and more powerful voices in Canadian Country Music than Greg Arcade.
Definitely check out this album.
